Our History

Our firm was founded in 1980 to manage associations, provide event management, provide academic publishing services, develop continuing education programs, and serve as consultants to nonprofit managers and leaders around the world. We continue to do so today, and while our technology and processes have evolved to remain current, our focus remains on providing the highest level of personal service to our clients.

Jon Dancy, MIT, MBA, CMA, CAE

President and CEO

 

Jon is the President and Chief Executive Officer of International Association Management. He has more than 20 years of senior management experience in association management, corporate accounting, and information technology in healthcare and nonprofit industries. In addition to working with associations and foundations as a consultant, he is an expert in many special services such as online course development, webinars, fundraising, and sponsorship. Jon was a featured speaker at the Nursing Organization Alliance 2012 and 2011 Fall Summits.


Jon has more than 12 years of medical practice administration experience as an information technology manager and consultant with large cardiology and thoracic surgery groups in Pensacola and Atlanta. He has successfully worked with national physician associations.


Jon holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of West Florida, a Master of Information Technology degree from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, and he is a Certified Association Executive (CAE). Additionally, Jon holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential. The CMA designation is a globally recognized accounting credential for corporate executives in managerial accounting, finance, and business performance.

Chief Performance Officer

Donna is the Chief Performance Officer (CPO) and Convention Services Director of International Association Management. Donna’s expert knowledge, experience with medical manufacturers and universities, and skills as a recognized leader make her an ideal choice to implement strategic initiatives and bring more value to our organization. She is a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) with experience in management, hotel contract negotiation, financial management, on-site event coordination, continuing medical education, site selection, sponsorship, enduring materials, web design and travel.


Donna has a long history in association leadership. She is an active member and Past President of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Meeting Professionals International. Donna is a sought-after instructor and speaker on certification topics such as hotel contract negotiation. Her professional history includes many awards for marketing excellence. Donna holds a Bachelor's of Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of South Florida.


Previously, Donna served as the Director of Conferences for two large medical device manufacturers. Working directly with the CEO and CFO, she managed the Meeting Services Department with a staff of ten and a scope of work that managed over five hundred events and fifteen trade shows a year. Donna also worked in the university system for twenty years as a Senior Meeting Planner for Baylor College of Medicine and the University of South Florida, College of Medicine. She planned conferences for both physicians and nurses.


C.J. Patrick
C.J. Patrick
Finance Director

C.J. Patrick is a licensed Certified Professional Accountant in the State of Florida. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of West Florida, where he has also taken postgraduate courses in professional accountancy.


Patrick’s background includes more than 20 years in the accounting field, with experience as a full-charge bookkeeper, staff accountant, internal auditor, research accountant, and consultant. He was an accountant at Gulf Power until April of 2018. During his career at Gulf Power, he conducted internal audits of activities, prepared reports for Gulf Power’s CFO for board meetings, and served as Gulf Power’s point of contact for Southern Company’s internal audits services. Patrick’s responsibilities also included preparation of the SEC forms 10K and 10Q and researching accounting implications (GAAP, FERC, etc.) of business decisions.


Patrick also has technical work experience. Prior to joining Gulf Power, he worked for Texas Instruments Inc. as a research assistant, where he developed database applications for billing, inventory control, and automated process control systems. Additionally, Patrick is active in the community, volunteering his time to several non-profits and serving as the treasurer for several civic and public non-profit projects.

Steve Slebodnik

Senior Vice President, Hotel & Hospitality Management

As Senior Vice President of International Association Management, Steve manages recruitment, training and support of associates; creating concise overviews of hotel proposals, contract negotionas, personalized service, industry trends, promotional projects and networking. Prior to joining IAM, Steve held a position with the Houston office of Helmsbriscoe for over sixteen years.


As a Senior Director of Global Accounts,  he worked directly with corporate and association clients throughout the United States and internationally. Steve is a hospitality industry veteran with over thirty years experience in the industry.

On July 24, 2010, the International Airlines Travel Agent Network (IATAN) launched an accreditation program for professional meeting and event planners. IATAN's programs are recognized around the world and provide a unique accreditation system for meeting planners who continuously meet stringent business criteria. Accreditation provides global recognition of IAM and, at the same time, gives IAM global reach to industry suppliers. Being IATAN accredited ensures that our meeting and event planner entity and its sales are accurately identified and recognized by industry suppliers globally.
